I was born on 1 February 1985 in Budapest, Hungary. I obtained a Master degree in Astronomy in 2009 at the Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest. I wrote my Master thesis entitled GD 244 – Asteroseismological study of a DA White Dwarf at the Konkoly Observatory under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Margit Paparó. In the autumn of 2009 I moved to Belgium to start a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the Institute of Astronomy of KU Leuven, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Conny Aerts and Dr. Maryline Briquet. I defended my thesis entitled Observational asteroseismology of B-type stars on the main sequence with the CoRoT and Kepler satellites on 31 May 2013. I stayed in Belgium after my defence: from 1 January 2014 I held a short term postdoctoral position (PDMK) of the Special Research Fund (BOF) of the KU Leuven, then from 1 October 2014 until 30 September 2017 I was a Postdoctoral Fellow of the The Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO), Belgium. Afterwards I kept my affiliation with the KU Leuven as a voluntary Research Fellow until 2021.
In February 2018 I joined Transport & Mobility Leuven to do research in a field that is directly relevant for both our society and our environment. Since then I have been involved in projects around passenger car fleet models (Belgian, European, and global fleet models, various uptake scenarios for electric and LPG vehicles, etc.), sustainable urban mobility policies (including deployment plans for electric vehicle charging points), and most importantly the development of the low-cost multi-modal traffic counting sensor (coding and API) that is the heart of the Telraam network.
In March 2021 a spin-off company (Rear Window) was founded to run Telraam more independently, where I initially spent 50% of my working hours before completely switching over in April 2022. Now I am a mix of a data scientist, a backend developer, a hardware tester, and a design and marketing specialist.
In my free time I am a passionate road cyclist, a private pilot, and a keen photographer. I am also present on many social media platforms and websites, you can find links to these in the sidebar to the right.
